My QSL Card Collection is Online!

My collection of print (and some digital) QSL cards is now online! It’s something I’d been hoping to do for a while, and now it’s finally done.

Scanning Paper Cards
After years of owning a flat bed scanner I knew that using one to scan my QSL cards was going to be a huge pain in the ass. So I did some searching on the Intert00bz and found Robert K3RRR’s page, which declares, “Finally, A Scanner That Will Scan QSL Cards!” Okay, I thought, I’ll bite. He reports having good results with the Brother Mobile Color Page Scanner, DS-620. I’m not sure when he wrote that, but that model is discontinued. The updated version is the DS-640, but I splurged for the DS-740D so I could have duplex scanning. It was relatively easy to set up, and with the press of a button I can scan both sides of a card in seconds. (Renaming the files to match the callsigns was not nearly as fast.)
